The thermal water that flows from this spring is in fact extremely hot, with a temperature which varies between the 55°C and 60°CThis temperature is due to the presence of underground volcanic fumaroles.

Numerous legends and stories are associated with this spring, some of which date back to antiquity.

For example, it is said that the spring was the place of amorous encounters between the poet Petrarca and his beloved, Laura. Other legends speak of warriors who were healed from their wounds after bathing in the waters of Bullicame.
